On $500/mo spend, the estimated monthly cost breakdown for MoneyGram Card is: gas $0.00, conversion spread $7.50, flat/FX fees $0.00, and amortised card/tier fee $0.00, for a total drag of 1.5% of spend. After $0.00/mo cashback that is still a net cost of about $7.50/mo ($90.00/yr). MoneyGram Card tops up from a centralized balance, so there is no on-chain gas cost regardless of how often you reload. Figures are conservative estimates and vary with conditions.
Note: Stablecoin-backed Visa launched 10 September 2026 and available first in Colombia. The cardholder holds a USDC balance in the MoneyGram app, spends it anywhere Visa is accepted via Apple Pay or Google Pay, and can move the same balance to a MoneyGram agent location for cash pickup in local currency. MGUSD, MoneyGram's own stablecoin, is stated as a future funding asset. MoneyGram deliberately avoids calling it a debit card because the balance is stablecoin-backed rather than a bank or fiat account; it is recorded as Debit here because the schema has no third option. No monthly, annual or purchase fees at launch. GAPS: MoneyGram publishes no full fee schedule, so the inactivity fee amount (charged after 3 or more months of no activity), the FX spread on non-USD spending and any cash-pickup conversion cost are all undisclosed; no ATM access exists yet because the card is digital-only. VERIFICATION NOTE (2026-09-13): the Colombian card path moneygram.com/mgo/co/en/card answers with MoneyGram's generic money-transfer homepage when requested from outside Colombia, and moneygram.com/card is a 404, so the product page could not be read first-party. Launch, network, issuer and KYC facts come from The Block's launch report; the fee wording comes from launch coverage quoting MoneyGram's product page, not from a page we read ourselves.
