MetaMask Card Adds Solana USDC Spending Across the US

MetaMask expanded its self-custodial Mastercard debit card to support USDC held on Solana, letting US holders spend SOL-native stablecoins anywhere Mastercard is accepted without manually off-ramping first. Solana joins Linea and Base as supported networks, tapping the chain’s low fees and fast finality for point-of-sale payments. The move further blurs the line between wallet balances and spendable money for self-custody users.

Hyperbeat Launches Liquid Banking + Visa Card on Hyperliquid

Hyperbeat went live April 8 with Liquid Banking, a non-custodial super-account on HyperEVM that unifies spot and perp trading, yield, and card spending through Hyperbeat Pay. Users can borrow against BTC, ETH, SOL, HYPE, or tokenized gold to spend anywhere Visa is accepted while the underlying collateral keeps earning yield. The platform is built with Paxos Labs for stablecoin rails and Noah for fiat on/off-ramps — the first card-enabled banking layer native to Hyperliquid.

Visa, Coinbase, and Nevermined Enable AI-Agent Card Payments

On April 8–9, Visa unveiled Intelligent Commerce Connect and Nevermined shipped the first production integration combining it with Coinbase’s x402 protocol. Users enroll their Visa card on pay.nevermined.app, define spending rules (budget caps, per-transaction limits, merchant whitelists, time-based controls), and delegate purchasing authority to an AI agent — all settled on existing card rails. It’s an early but concrete bridge between autonomous agents and the mainstream payment network.

Quick Hits

Market Context: Infrastructure week. Rather than headline rate changes, the story was rails — MetaMask stretching into Solana, Hyperbeat debuting Visa on Hyperliquid, Rain/Crossmint making stablecoin-backed issuance an API call, and Visa/Coinbase standardizing agentic payments. The crypto-card layer is becoming embeddable: less “download this app,” more “plug into your stack.”
